It was close but not enough for JT and Complexity

Complexity fall to Knockout stage as NIP get revenge

Another very competitive series between the two teams.

After falling to Vitality in a quick 2-0 affair in the last week, Complexity fell to the lower bracket of Group A where they rematched against the Swedish side of Ninjas in Pyjamas, who they beat earlier last week in a very balanced 2-1 game. In a series where fans got to see this Complexity core finally face an international side on Mirage, unfortunately, the North Americans will have to battle through the Knockout stage in order to clinch a spot in the Fall Finals already.

The series started off in an unusual way, with Complexity playing Mirage, picked by NIP. This was the first time in the year that the North American side played that map and the first time this core lineup played Mirage outside of NA. Without much to show previously, it was hard to know what to expect from Complexity and, despite a 3-0 opening, the team fell behind 5-10 at halftime, going to the T-side. Although they lost the pistol round and the following two this time, Johnny "JT" Theodosiou's man managed to get three in a row, sparking some hope, but it was too little too late, as NIP secured their mpa pick 16-9

Complexity's pick of Overpass was a different story. NIP got off to a 2-0 lead which quickly became a 9-2 deficit, as once again the T-side of the North Americans looked very sharp. By the tail end of the half, the Ninjas started to get closer but Complexity managed to keep a nice 10-5 lead at halftime. Despite losing the CT pistol round, Complexity pulled it back with a force buy win to set them up for the map win. After going through the rounds like they were paperwork, Complexity sent the series to a third map with a 16-7 win on Overpass.

An electric start to the CT-side pistol round for Complexity set the tone early for the team, as they opened the map with a 4-1 lead. After that, NIP adjusted well to the rhythm of the game and managed to control it, getting ahead 8-5 before Complexity closed the half with two straight round wins, making it an 8-7 half in favor of NIP. The T-side for Complexity wasn't as clean as it was the first time the two teams met on Nuke, at least during the early stages as the teams were going back and forth. After trading blows for five rounds, Complexity pulled it together and were able to string six rounds in a row. It all looked great with Complexity on series point 15-10 but NIP managed to come back and send the game to over time.

It's always great to see Counter-Strike laws in practice, and Complexity made sure to win the first round of overtime after failing to win a single round in the past 5 attempts. NIP grabbed the following two rounds and went into halftime ahead 17-16. Once again it was the NA side winning the first round of the half, but once again it was NIP taking the second and this time getting to series point. Complexity sent it to second overtime and managed to get ahead at the half 20-19, going into the T-side. The second half was all NIP's as Complexity fell 22-20.
