ESL announces Impact Season 4 Invites
Following this weekend's announcement of the open qualifier for the upcoming season, ESL Impact has finally revealed the eight invited teams competing in the North American and South American regions as well as the eight invited teams for Europe.
It should be no surprise to see FlyQuest Red and Evil Geniuses Gold as part of the upcoming season, while Shimmer earns a direct invite thanks to their stunning performances throughout the first half of the year. Meanwhile, Detonate SparX will claim the final invited spot. While questions remain about the SparX roster, it appears they will be coming back.
As for South America, it is no surprise to see FURIA and B4 earn invites, as well as MIBR. However, obviously missing is the Black Dragons lineup, who recently parted way with their roster. With the squad not seemingly granted a spot that they would have earned, it looks like W7M will take their "place" through an invite. South America has been a strong region for the women's scene and B4 is once again one of the top teams to look out for.
The SparX squad reportedly went on a small hiatus after losing out on the ESL Impact Season 3 LAN finals. Additionally, Cecily "Chowdzz" Johnson has committed to playing with Michigan Tech, meaning that their star presence on the roster will be sorely missed. Dust2.us knows that some roster fluidity remains in place and the squad is hoping to be settled in the coming weeks.
For the Open Qualifiers coming up, we will likely not see Saints participating as the team has splintered off. Anna "buhnny" Cheung and Olga "olya" Kryvulych announced on Twitter they were looking at other teams, Elora "Sinxysinxy" Hughes is committed to The Plague, and Cynthia "katalyyst" Sheerajin will be on a new team shortly.
The North American division is scheduled to run from September 13th through October 29th with the winner earning a spot to the ESL Impact Season 4 Finals in Valencia.
There are two open qualifiers for the North America region. The first runs from August 18th through August 20th while the second open qualifier runs from August 25th through August 27th.
