FURIA make first roster move of the offseason
With rumors swirling around the Brazilian scene about high buyouts, where Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo will end up, and if paiN are going to be in the hunt or if they are going to be picked apart, it appears that the first move has been made.
According to a report by Dust2 Brasil, FURIA has informed André "drop" Abreu that he will no longer be part of the starting lineup. There are still several options FURIA is considering, one of them being Academy product, Kaue "kauez" Kaschuk, who's VAC ban is set to expire in October 2023. The benching does not come as a shock as it has been rumored that the player, alongside Rafael "saffee" Costa, would be replaced.
The first inclination came after FURIA Co-Owner, Andre Akkari posted a message to fans, explaining that he had met with Yuri "yuurih" Boian, Andrei "arT" Piovezan, and Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato to discuss plans. Notably, the message failed to mention saffee and drop.
drop and saffee are newer additions to the squad, joining up in August 2021 and January 2022, respectively. drop was a product of the FURIA Academy and was the replacement for Lucas "honda" Honda who also had joined the squad from the FURIA Academy. saffee was a highly touted AWPer from paiN and came into the squad with much fanfare.
According to the report from Dust2 Brasil, FURIA held their meeting with FalleN earlier this week, but nothing concrete has come out of it. With paiN also hot on the heels of the legendary AWPer, it remains to be seen what the player's decision will be if he decides to go or stay with Imperial.
Should FalleN decide to join FURIA, he will replace saffee on the active lineup. However, should the legendary Brazilian not sign with FURIA, it is still unknown what will happen with saffee.
Without drop, FURIA are set to be:
Andrei "arT" Piovezan
Yuri "yuurih" Santos
Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato
Rafael "saffee" Costa
Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira (Coach)
André "drop" Abreu (Inactive)
