Heroic secure revenge in D.C.
In a surprising turn of events, Vitality have been unable to cement themselves a three-piece at the end of Global Offensive history as Heroic claim the potentially final S-Tier trophy of the game. At the Washington D.C. BLAST Premier Spring Final, Heroic defeated in a daunting 2-1 series.
The series started off on Vitality's pick of Vertigo where the Danish side opened up with a 9:6 T-side. Switching sides, they continued their dominance with four consecutive rounds before Vitality could put up any soft of defense. Unfortunately for the French organization, trading rounds back-and-forth with Heroic was not enough, leading to a 16:9 map win for the Danes.
On Heroic's Mirage pick, things started off quite evenly, with the scoreline at 6:6 at one point. However, after a 8:7 CT-side half-time score for Vitality, the French organization's roster sped off racing to the finish line, taking the map 16:10.
As the deciding map, Inferno was another close affair in the opening half with Heroic taking an 8:7 CT-side. Once the sides were switched for the final time, Vitality could only muster up two CT-side rounds of their own, giving the map 16:9 to Heroic
With both IEM Rio and the BLAST.tv Paris Major, skipping IEM Dallas, many fans expected Vitality to finish out the final tournament before the player-break with a hat trick by adding the BLAST Premier Spring Final title to their trophy cabinet. However, in a turn of revenge for Heroic for both Rio and the Major, they denied that crowning jewel to Vitality's mini-era.
While it is not officially confirmed that the Spring Final marks the end of the S-Tier calendar for Global Offensive, many have speculated that Valve will release Counter-Strike 2 during the player-break as part of their "Summer" release promise. Should this be the case, the first S-Tier event after the player-break is the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, followed shortly by IEM Cologne.
The player break runs from June 12th to July 9th; the Fall Groups start on July 13th.
