Complexity lose out in Overpass Derby
No matter where each team will be in the rankings, we all know one thing about the matchup between Complexity and Imperial. It will happen during an elimination portion of the event, Overpass will be involved, and it will be incredibly frustrating to watch as a viewer. This game was shaping up to be absolutely no different.
Complexity continued their surprises by picking Vertigo once more, a map they rarely played, but seemed to have some sort of success on, especially after beating Astralis on it last night. While last night the Americans were able to get eight rounds against Astralis on their T-side, this time it was much more difficult. Complexity only managed four rounds to start their half 4-11.
However, they were able to pull it back on their CT-side, tying it up at 14-14. That wouldn't be enough though, as Imperial found two vital rounds to take the first amp.
With Overpass now on the cards, surely it would be a hotly contested game for both Imperial and Complexity, but like Vertigo, Complexity just didn't seem to have it together. An uncharacteristically slow start saw them earn only three CT-side rounds, putting them in a deficit that was impossible to come back from.
Complexity was able to win the pistol, but they couldn't string together enough rounds on their T-side and would lost 16-6, seeing their run at the BLAST Spring Finals end in the Quarterfinals.
Complexity's season is now done, but we will see if they have enough ranking points to qualify for IEM Cologne 2023.
