New organization invests in women's NA CS
After almost two months without being filiated with any organization, the former CLG Red squad has announced it is now part of FlyQuest. The Los Angeles-based organization already has been invested into several esports, however this marks their first official investment into the Counter-Strike space. It also comes at a time when more organizations have been consolidating under their most profitable titles, not expanding.
The team will continue under FlyQuest under the "Red" moniker, which has become their primary identity over the last few years. When CLG originally opted to separate both their men's and women's teams, they used "Red" as the gender differentiator for their divisions that had multiple teams.
Using colors to differentiate teams is also not uncommon, as Evil Geniuses famously uses "Gold" for their women's Counter-Strike team, "Black" for their second men's Counter-Strike team, and used to use "White" for another of their men's Counter-Strike teams.
This will be the first venture of FlyQuest into the VALORANT and Counter-Strike space, having dabbled in the first-person shooter scenes in Apex Legends in 2020. For the organization, they were founded by Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wesley Edens and Fortress Investment Group in 2016. In September 2022, the Viola family, who own Sunrise Sports and Entertainment (SSE), which owns the NHL’s Florida Panthers, acquired the organization.
Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie and co. were left looking for a new home after CLG was sold by its parent company, Madison Square Garden to NRG. Most of the divisions had been shuttered and only the League of Legends division was transferred.
This announcement comes right before the start of ESL Impact League Season 3 Finals, meaning FlyQuest Red will debut tomorrow, in front of the Entertainment & Sports Arena, in Dallas, Texas.
