It's do or die for Liquid in nitr0's last event

IEM Dallas Day 3 Updates

Playoffs will be determined today.

Bidding adieu to Nouns on day one and EG on day two, only Complexity and Liquid remain for North America's hopes and dreams in Dallas. Sadly, with both in the lower bracket of Group B, only one has the chance to make playoffs. Worse even, there is still a chance for no American teams at all to meet the crowd, which would surely be a disappointment for one of the only North American events on the calendar.

10:30PM - ENCE clinch semifinals berth over Astralis

After it looked like Astralis had it all but wrapped up, ENCE snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Coming back once more, ENCE pushed Mirage until the breaking point. Despite a phenomenal performance from Nicolai "device" Reedtz, the Danish team dropped the series and will face MOUZ on Friday.

10:30PM - FaZe eliminate reigning champs Cloud9, Astralis-ENCE in final moments

After two overwhelmingly one-sided affairs on Mirage and Inferno, FaZe and Cloud9 made way to the final battleground of Ancient. Despite an early back and forth, FaZe ended up dominating on the CT-side. The international squad quickly shot their way up to fifteen rounds, and after losing a few meaningful rounds, eliminated Cloud9 from IEM Dallas.

Despite Astralis' early lead on Nuke, ENCE ended up on top in overtime. Now, both squads are fighting for a semifinal berth on the final map of the day, Mirage, where things are even.

FaZe 2-1 Cloud9

Overpass: ENCE 19-17 Denmark Astralis

09:00PM - FaZe go 1-1, Astralis about to make semifinals

In the final matches of the night, ENCE take on Astralis for a semifinal spot while FaZe and Cloud9 duke it out for the final remaining playoff slot. After an extremely comfortable victory for FaZe on Ancient, it looked all but over for Cloud9. However, the Russian squad fought back on Inferno and easily won to take the series to a map three.

At the same time. Astralis converted their map pick of Overpass over ENCE. On ENCE's map pick, Astralis claimed nine rounds on their CT-side, putting the onus on ENCE to overachieve and force a third map.

Mirage: FaZe 16-7 Cloud9
Inferno: FaZe 7-16 Cloud9

Overpass: ENCE 12-16 Denmark Astralis

05:30PM - Heroic continue their roll

Well, all eyes will be on Twistzz later, but for now, we got to see G2 get absolutely destroyed by Heroic in a swift 2-0 victory for the Danes. Heroic have continued to look dominant throughout the year (despite not winning the Major!) and hope to end the season with some silverware.

Inferno: G2 9-16 Denmark Heroic
Ancient: G2 4-16 Denmark Heroic

01:30PM - Welp, anyone know any good barbeque?

Surely it's time for us to enjoy the sights, sounds, and all that Dallas has to offer. Complexity make it as the final North American team to be eliminated from IEM Dallas and fans will be headed to an arena looking at the international teams for fun. Hey, maybe we can all pretend Cloud9 is American still and cheer for them again?

It was a valiant effort from the South African / American squad as they stole away Cloud9's pick on Ancient. Overpass should have been a closer game, but here we are. I guess we can start looking to BLAST Spring Finals in DC?

Overpass: Cloud9 16-2 Complexity

02:30PM - COMPLEXITY FORCE A MAP THREE

Complexity have come from behind, thanks to Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek deciding to turn up with a MASSIVE 32 kill game, that likely could have been reflected better on the scoreboard if it were not for some teamkills. Oh well, it's all onto Overpass, which if we recall, Complexity aren't too shabby on...

Ancient: Cloud9 13-16 Complexity

And in a parting note, nitr0 thanks us all for the memories.

02:15PM - Liquid & nitr0 sent out of Dallas

The fairytale ending that many would have hoped for out of Liquid did not come to be as early losses sent them into the lower bracket where they then had to face FaZe in the elimination match. For Nick "nitr0" Cannella, this would be his final game as his men could not force a comeback against the Europeans, with former teammate Russell "twistzz" Van Dulken handing him a final defeat.

Meanwhile! Complexity are giving it to Cloud9 and trying to force a third map, maybe NA has a shot after all?

Nuke: FaZe 16-10 United States Liquid
Ancient: Cloud9 11-12 Complexity

01:00PM - Both Col and Liquid down 0-1

I'm gonna be real boys, it's a tough time here in Dallas. Liquid and Complexity are both down a map, and not just any map, but their own map picks. They now have to go onto the chosen battlegrounds of FaZe and Cloud9, win those, and the decider to even stay alive in IEM Dallas. Hopefully our American squads can do the impossible and make it through. If not, it'll be a lonely playoffs.

Anubis: FaZe 16-11 United States Liquid
Inferno: Cloud9 16-12 Complexity

11:45AM - Judgement Day commences

Both Liquid and Complexity will begin their elimination matches against FaZe and Cloud9 respectively. The winners of each game will face each other for the final playoff spot in Group B, joining ENCE and Astralis. With Nouns, FURIA, 9z, and Evil Geniuses eliminated, these two are the last to carry the torch of the Americas for the rare domestic tournament.
