Evil Geniuses take down South American titans
Evil Geniuses had lost in the closed qualifier. They had already began planning their long term future without consideration of the Major. Suddenly, they get the invite from BLAST after Detonate had to withdraw, and now they are in Mexico making history with their opening match.
The American team has explained that they have not been practicing as much or as good as they can in these last few weeks, but that certainly didn't deter the team from dominating on Inferno, a map that the squad have been relatively comfortable on.
Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte led the way alongside Timothy "autimatic" Ta as the driving forces behind a strong start on the Evil Geniuses T-side. The North Americans powered their way to a 8-2 scoreline before finishing out the half 10-5.
Problems began for the squad as they would lose the opening round CT pistol thanks to a miraculous play by Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes that would delay the defuse long enough for the bomb to explode, giving Imperial a way back into the game. As the Brazilians eventually climbed back to a 12-13 scoreline, Evil Geniuses would find the strength to pull away and close out the game.
The unlikely arrivals are now headed to their 1-0 match tomorrow as they await their next opponent.
