EG lodged complaint to ESL over comedy segment
According to Richard Lewis, Evil Geniuses filed a complaint to ESL due to a segment where members of the talent team mocked the organization.
The segment in itself, named "Deleted Scenes", was a "Whose Line is it Anyways" style segment the hosts would give responses to hypothetical scenarios. For example, "things the commentators would never say when casting FaZe" and Harry "JustHarry" Russell said that FaZe were the winners of the ELEAGUE Boston Major.
The complaint regards the comments the talent team made when coming up with sentences for the scenario "things you would not hear at an EG bootcamp". Some of the answers were "Congratulations everyone, we won a match.”, “Alright guys I’d like to introduce a new member to our staff. It’s Kassad.”, and “Hey it sure is getting cold in here. Has anyone got any more money we can burn?”.
Allegedly, Evil Geniuses was not happy with the segment because it could be "damaging to their brand”. The organization was "furious" and after the complaint was submitted, "all the broadcast talent was told to take it easy on Evil Geniuses". It was also communicated that the segment should not be broadcasted again for the rest of the event.
Evil Geniuses' stint at ESL Pro League Season 17 ended quickly with three straight losses, where they only managed to win one map against IHC. Recently, EG started making some changes to their Blueprint project, dropping the EG White squad and are rumored to make some player changes regarding the main roster, potentially adding Ismail "refrezh" Ali.
During the last three months, Evil Geniuses have had a 28% win rate, making them an easy target for mockery and has led to the team being the target of major criticism from the community.
