A sad departure for the South African

Longtime ATK talisman steps down

Following a successful surgery, the South African is looking to take some time away from competitive CS:GO as he recovers.

In an announcement this morning, Rhys "Fadey" Armstrong and ATK have agreed that the player would step down from the roster that he has been part of since February 2020, initially as a stand-in, before joining fully later that year.

At the time, Fadey was signed alongside a fully South African roster in 2020 as COVID-19 was increasingly making overseas operations for the organization impossible. However, in 2021, the squad looked to travel back to the North American region in hopes of competing at the top level once more.

ATK found immense success in North America, but also underwent a series of roster changes. Fadey and Gareth "MisteM" Ries remained the only two players from that initial roster, but now Fadey is on his way out after almost two full years with the squad.

In his twitlonger, Fadey highlighted the stress of competing and balancing a personal life. In a decision that he has not taken easily, he is stepping down and will go back to his studies and spending time with family.

  • Gareth "MisteM" Ries

  • Sweden Jonathan "b0denmaster" Bodenmalm

  • United States Michael "Swisher" Schmid

  • Canada Jonathan "djay" Dallal

  • Saad "Pluto" Siraj

  • Daniel "sprayxd" Kogan (Coach)
