EG Gold lose one
Lucy "empathy" Verkaik, one of five original members of EG Gold, has stepped away from the Evil Geniuses women's roster. Since being signed in August 2022, the team qualified for ESL Impact League Season 2, but finished in joint-last place. Bad only turned worse when the team failed to qualify for ESL Impact Katowice 2023, losing out to CLG Red and Saints for a chance at the prestigious European LAN tournament.
This follows news of EG Gold hosting tryouts for new players such as Tig "Rice" Simpson in the ESEA Intermediate League, though even that hasn't been too successful, with the team currently standing at 1-2 and their sole victory coming off a forfeit win.
This marks EG's first change to their Gold lineup since signing the team in August of 2022. The future will tell whether the team is adaptable to change or will continue to struggle. In any case, it's clear that changes were needed after being unable to qualify for either of the NA spots for ESL Impact Katowice, one of the largest all-female events of the year.
