Complexity valiantly fall to NAVI, joining fellow NA teams at Showdown
Complexity showed the fire that had been missing for the most part at BLAST Groups in the opening half of Anubis. Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli was the savior for the North American side on numerous occasions on the T-side, winning two vital 1v2's and helping Complexity to an 8-7 half against the CIS giant, NAVI.
The momentum continued on the CT-side, taking the pistol and moving out to an 11-7 lead. NAVI began their slow climb back into their offensive side, with Justin "FaNg" Coakley handing them a lifeline at 11-11, missing the defuse after Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy valiantly took down two of FaNg's comrades in a 1v3. hallzerk's hero AWP supported by Deagles handed Complexity a lifeline, starting the road back to level things up at 14-14. Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Valerii "b1t" Vakhovskyi crushed the NA dreams in round 30, closing the game 16-14 after winning out a 2v4 to send it to Inferno.
Inferno kicked off with a NAVI pistol victory and follow-up, however, Complexity quickly collected some CT rounds. NAVI IGL Denis "electroNic" Sharipov was causing problems for Complexity both tactically and in the fragging department, leading the way with 16 frags, however, Complexity etched out the half just barely at 8-7.
Identically to Anubis, Complexity took the second pistol after NAVI claimed the first. The second half of Inferno was not similar to the second half of Anubis, with Complexity marching on toward a map win with minimal resistance until they reached 14-9. An electroNic flank destabilized Complexity's Ahit and showed some signs of life for the primarily Ukrainian side. Michael "Grim" Wince's dominance prevented that, securing his 27th and 28th kills on B to give Complexity map point. Grim's 29th and 30th kills secured the map and sent the two teams to Overpass.
For the third straight map, NAVI opened the account with a pistol-round win. NAVI claimed an early 4-2 lead on their T-side, but hallzerk's impact on the AWP halted an early spiral. Building upon this impact from hallzerk, Johnny' "JT" Theodosiou repelled NAVI's advancements on the B site with a filthy spray transfer. Complexity claimed BLAST's signature "on fire" at 7-4 before NAVI rebutted with a round. That round would be one of NAVI's last rounds of the half, however, with Complexity looking confident heading into T-side up 9-6.
A filthy one tap from Ricky "floppy" Kemery ensured the pattern of trading pistol rounds continued. Forcing a four-man save out of NAVI, Complexity continued to inch closer to a spot at BLAST Spring Finals at 12-8. The graffiti on B site wasn't the only monster present in round 21, with Grim unleashing his inner demon to shut down NAVI's retake with an ace to give Complexity their thirteenth. A rare AWPing display from electroNic resulted in a collateral at monster to make the score 14-10 in Complexity's favor. The GOAT s1mple was determined to not let this map slip, having 27 kills in the 26 rounds at 14-12. NAVI leveled things up at 14-14, with chaos on the A site resulting in NAVI taking map point. It just wasn't meant to be for Complexity, with NAVI closing 16-14 and NA must wait for one of their teams to qualify for BLAST in Washington.
