Bushido Boyz and Just Swing secure final MDL Season 32 spots from Relegation
The third and final day of the MDL Season 31 Relegation tournament has come to an end, seeing Bushido Boyz return to MDL over Thunder Logic while Just Swing snagged the final spot with a win against Kyle "OCEAN" O'Brien's absolute mad lads.
Christopher "Swahn" Swahn ensured a swift affair for Bushido Boyz as he helped to open up the series with an 11-4 T-side lead on Mirage, with Thunder Logic managing to add only a single round to their tally in the second half before their fate was sealed with a 16-5 win. Swahn ended the opening map with a 1.90 rating, having put up 22 frags and averaging 116 damage per round.
The second map of the series, Overpass, saw much closer margins, with the two teams neck-and-neck at the end of the first half. Thunder Logic managed to briefly pull ahead with a trio of rounds following the side swap, but a string of six rounds by Bushido Boyz in reply quickly had Swahn and co. sitting on a 14-10 lead. Jonathan "djay" Dallal tried to help his side fight back into the map, winning four rounds to tie up the match, but Swahn and Daniel "picky" Milazzo combined to edge out the 16-14 victory for Bushido Boyz to secure the series win.
A similar scenario unfolded in Just Swing's matchup against absolute mad lads, with Chris "Slash" Peterson combining with Jake "Dolzy" Amendola and Joel "jcrueL" Cruel to take a 6-0 lead for their side on Overpass. OCEAN and company battled back by winning seven of the ensuing eight rounds, leaving themselves trailing 7-8 at the side swap.
Once Just Swing were on the defense, control of the map was firmly in their hands. Just three additional rounds went the way of absolute mad lads before Just Swing closed out their own map pick 16-10.
absolute mad lads seemed set to push the series to a third map as Inferno got underway, with Zander "FIEND" Bates powering his team to a 9-6 lead at the end of their offensive half. Once again, once the sides swapped over, the tides of the match quickly turned as a stellar performance by Ryan "Winsum" Johns gave Just Swing the momentum, allowing for the team to take ten uncontested rounds to swiftly close out the series with a 16-9 victory.
Shortly after the end of the series, both djay and Amgalan "genghsta"Nemekhbayar took to Twitter to announce that they had parted ways with Thunder Logic, and were once again searching for teams.
