OCEAN forfeits to own Fan Club at The Gaming Stadium Summer Masters
The two-day 24 team Gaming Stadium Summer Masters event has come to an end with OCEAN's Fan Club besting KKona in one of the longest maps in CS:GO history, taking home the $2,300 prize after playing 65 rounds on Train.
In the first semifinals matchup, OCEAN's Fan Club started the series off in the lead as they closed out their CT-side on Overpass up 10-5. After switching sides OCEAN's Fan Club continued to find rounds as they won the opening pistol round and the next three rounds to nearly claim map point though smh my head answered back with six rounds of their own to take the score to 14-10. The Andrew "shmaw" Situ-led mix-team's comeback was not meant to be though as OCEAN's Fan Club won two out the next four rounds to close out Overpass 16-12.
After a close game on Overpass, Mirage proved to be less so as after OCEAN's Fan Club ended their T-side up 9-6, the squad found the next seven rounds in a row on their CT-side to take Mirage 16-6.
In the second semifinals series, KKona started the series off by being absolutely dominated by Wasted Talent, with the North American mix-team crushing Kyle "OCEAN" O'Brien's squad 16-2 on Overpass. Moving onto Wasted Talent's map pick of Inferno, KKona found revenge as they claimed an 11-4 T-side, and after switching managing to stave off Wasted Talent to take the map 16-10.
On Nuke, KKona ended their T-side 8-7 before Wasted Talent managed to turn the tables and force overtime after claiming a 8-7 T-side of their own. In overtime, KKona managed to narrowly win Nuke 19-17 to make their way to the finals.
In the grand finals, OCEAN's Fan Club started Train in the lead after winning their CT-side 10-5. However, in an omen what was to come, KKona manage to force overtime after pulling the reverse sweep to tie things up at 15-15. In an overtime none of the players are sure to forget the two squads took turns tying things up repeatedly with the map stretching to be over 3 hours long. After six overtimes and numerous technical pauses OCEAN's Fan Club emerged victorious taking Train 34-31. With it almost being 3 AM and with the prospect of potentialy playing out two more maps, KKona made the decision to concede defeat to OCEAN's Fan Club so that everyone could go home after nearly 17 hours of play.
Due to the final series not being completed in full, the prize distribution was slightly adjusted, giving KKona about $100 extra for conceding the series early. As such, The top four of the Gaming Stadium Summer Masters is as follows:
