Liquid announce year-long partnership with Marvel
Following a week of teasing and an avatar swap on Twitter, Liquid have announced a new partnership with none other than Marvel.
In a year-long strategic partnership that aims to "bring together the world of heroes and professional gaming", Liquid revealed all-new jersey designs that incorporated elements of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most notably, Nick "nitr0" Cannella was shown donning a Captain America-style Liquid jersey in the video posted on Twitter, with other esports players from the organization also making appearances.
The partnership marks another milestone for esports as a non-endemic brand enters the space. Disney owns both Marvel and shares in Liquid's parent company, Axiomatic, allowing for the conglomerate to further extend their interaction and reach among young adults thanks to the new partnership.
The Twitter video, narrated by Duncan "Thorin" Shields, sets the tone for the partnership, drawing parallels between the heroes in the Marvel universe and the efforts of Liquid's esports teams. The announcement was accompanied by a merch drop that includes Liquid-themed Iron Man, Captain America, and Avengers: Endgame Quantum Realm jerseys, as well as a shirt that features the now-combined Liquid and Marvel logos.
