Mythic Cup 3 reaches semifinals; ex-Zone decide they have better things to do
The first two rounds of Mythic Cup 3 took place yesterday, setting the event up to complete later today.
There is not much to be said about the Round of 16, as all of the favorites took care of business in order to advance. The initial matchups were all lopsided, with Bushido Boyz versus Prospects the only series to pit two MDL sides against one another.
Despite losing their series 2-1, Good Game PR and LiViD acquitted themselves well against the MDL sides of Party Astronauts and Thunder Logic, respectively.
In the quarterfinals, eUnited and ATK once again took straightforward victories over Bushido Boyz and Variance. Singularity gave up a map to Thunder Logic, but smothered their opponents on the other two maps in the series to advance. Finally, an ex-Zone lineup featuring David "J0LZ" Jolin emerged victorious over Party Astronauts.
Upon seeing they would be set to play eUnited today, however, ex-Zone have withdrawn from the tournament, and as a result Party Astronauts have been given a second life.
Yesterday's action and ex-Zone's inaction has setup the following matches for today:
eUnited | vs. | Party Astronauts |
Singularity | vs. | ATK |
The above matches will take place at 7 PM EDT, with the grand finals to follow immediately afterwards. Hot off of qualifying to the StarLadder Major Americas Minor, Singularity will look to continue their streak of finals appearances in Mythic Cups.
