Imperial stay alive for one more day
After taking a commanding win over O PLANO, Nouns had to fight against Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and co. in order to maintain their hope of making the major alive. Imperial is coming from a 2-1 win over oNe and are looking to continue to have a last chance at winning a major today if they beat Nouns.
The map veto saw Nouns picking Inferno, Imperial choosing Overpass and Vertigo was left open to decide the winner of the series if needed.
Inferno started out pretty well for North America, with Nouns winning the T-side pistol and the next three rounds. Imperial managed to put two on the board, but Nouns, on the back of an amazing performance from Jeorge "jeorgesnorts" Endicott, didn't let the Brazilians start a bigger run. The teams exchanged blows for a bit before Nouns went on a four round win streak. The last round of the half saw Dominick "JazzPimp" Dimpfel not having enough time to play the round and ended with an Imperial round win. The half finished with Nouns up 10-5, and with jeorgesnorts counting 20 kills to his name.
The second half had Imperial finally winning a pistol round. Once again, jeorge stepped up for Nouns, getting three kills during an eco round, winning the round for his team. After Imperial won another round, Nouns got back to a little streak of three in a row. With the score 14-7, Imperial started to warm up with some round wins. As FalleN led the charge, the Brazilians managed to send the game to overtime after winning seven rounds in a row.
Overtime had Nouns doing what they couldn't do by the end of regulation, winning a gun round. Imperial managed to win only one round in the first half of OT, as Nouns went ahead 17-16. The second half started just like the first, with the NA representatives taking the first round and Imperial the next one. Needing only one more round to win the map, Nouns couldn't close the map in the first OT.
For once, Imperial got the first round of overtime and the following two, entering the second half of the second OT only needing one round to close the map. And that they did, going to their Overpass pick up 1-0.
Imperial carried their momentum over to Overpass and started the map with the T-side pistol win. Then the Brazilians conceded an eco round and Nouns did the same the round after. After giving up a third round, the North Americans got four in a row. After that run, Imperia retook the lead with a streak of their own. The teams then went back to trading rounds until the final round of the half, where Imperial distanced themselves with a 9-6 lead.
Round 16 saw Imperial get another pistol round win, but just like the first half, they lost the follow-up. After that, Nouns went silent for three rounds before getting back on the board. With the score showing 13-8 for Brazil, Nouns started to draw something like what Imperial did on Inferno, getting closer and closer to tying up the game. On the back of Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo, the Brazilians managed to stop Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk and co.'s streak. The score was then 14-10 when Imperial ran away with the game. The match ended 16-10 as Imperial survive.
With this win, Imperial are now closer to the dream of playing the first Brazilian major in history, and only need two wins to claim the spot as theirs. If Complexity win against Isurus later today, Imperial will face paiN before the winner faces Complexity. If Complexity loses, Imperial get to watch paiN versus Complexity before entering the action against the winner of that series.
