The well-rounded Isurus was too much for MIBR to handle

Isurus send MIBR packing

The South American derby pitted the best two nations from the region against one another in a fight for tournament life.

The two 1-2 teams locked horns with elimination on the line in a three-map thriller, with MIBR standing tall as the smoke settled. The underdogs in Isurus took MIBR to their absolute limit in the round four RMR matchup, with both teams playing as close as they could without needing overtime rounds. MIBR were unable to survive the Isurus pressure, crumbling to their defense in the final moments.

Launching their opposition's map pick of Overpass, MIBR started on the CT-side with a swift 10-5 opener. Despite six rounds in a row turnaround from Isurus once they were on the CT-side, MIBR was not looking to let it get any closer. Posting 105 ADR across the whole map, Raphael "exit" Lacerda, and his team MIBR closed out the map with a 16-13 scoreline.

Starting Nuke on the T-side, MIBR hoped to close out the series in just two maps. Posting an impressive seven rounds on the attacking side, it looked like MIBR would have an easy time after the half-time break on the heavily CT-sided map. However, despite their 7-8 T-side half, MIBR were only able to again put seven rounds, this time on their CT-side, and allowed Isurus to take the map 16-14.

The Dust2 decider was neck-and-neck throughout the first half. After Isurus started their T-side hot with a 5-1 lead, MIBR came back with a vengeance, ripping off six-straight defensive rounds to make it a contest. At a 5-7 deficit, Isurus regained themselves after the MIBR run, taking back two rounds of their own to make it dead even at 7-7. MIBR edged them out in the final round, winning the half on their CT-side 8-7.

Once the teams switched halves on Dust2, it was all Isurus. Their defensive pressure was far too much for MIBR on the final map as they were unable to mount anything in the early stages of the second half. It wasn't until the tenth round in the second half that MIBR finally managed success on the T-side, but after losing nine in a row before putting themselves in position for the comeback. With a score of 14-9 in favor of Isurus, they locked it down on Dust2 to avoid any comeback drama, quickly setting up match point at 15-9 before closing it out 16-11 to complete the series upset 2-1.

Mibr out this early is so surprising. I thought it would be a col, imperial, mibr 3-2 fighting it out for the last spot, but this is crazy

Genuinely - while the team didn't look great, I am shocked they went 1-3.
