MIBR outlast eUnited in ECS Season 7 Week 4
MIBR are the first team in the fourth week of ECS Season 7 to advance to the grand finals, narrowly claiming a 2-1 victory over eUnited in a series that saw the final map go to all thirty rounds.
The Brazilians began the series on their own pick of Mirage, managing a victory in the pistol round before immediately being reset by eUnited, who worked their way up to a 3-1 scoreline. The combined forces of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Marcelo "coldzera" David halted eUnited in their tracks, with MIBR giving up just three additional rounds over the course of the map before securing a 16-6 victory.
A 1vs3 clutch by João "felps" Vasconcellos on the opening pistol would prove to be one of the few rounds that MIBR managed to put up on their T-side of Nuke, with Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado powering eUnited to a 12-3 halftime score. A 2.20 rating while averaging 135 damage per round allowed for MarKE to help eUnited close out their own map pick in similar fashion to MIBR on Mirage, with the North American roster forcing the series to Inferno with a 16-5 map win.
FalleN's good form returned on Inferno, with the AWPer allowing for MIBR to push up to a 9-1 lead on the CT-side. A resurgence towards the end of the half by eUnited allowed for the team to close the gap, leaving themselves with five rounds as they swapped over to their defensive side.
FalleN was quick to crush eUnited's morale as an ace in the second pistol round saw MIBR cruise to a 13-5 lead, putting the team just three rounds away from a spot in the grand finals. A heroic comeback effort by eUnited, powered by Victor "food" Wong, Kaleb "moose" Jayne, and an ace by Anthony "vanity" Malaspina, allowed for the North American team to win nine of the ensuing ten rounds, evening the score at 14-14. MIBR's resolve held strong however, with the Brazilians narrowly edging out the map with a 16-14 victory.
MIBR have advanced to the grand finals of ECS Season 7 Week 4, and now await the winner of the second semifinal matchup between Liquid and Luminosity, which will play out tomorrow at 5 PM EDT.
