Complexity is back!

COMPLEXITY TAKE DOWN NATUS VINCERE

Going up against the best team in the world, the new-look Complexity had some positives in their opening game.

Complexity faced off against the current #2 in the world, Natus Vincere, in their first LAN match with Håkon "Hallzerk" Fjærli. Notably, NAVI are without Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev who is sidelined due to personal reasons. It is unknown if s1mple will rejoin the squad later in the event or if he will miss it entirely. For Complexity, it provided a slightly better chance for the team to get a result with the world's best player no longer in the server.

The vetos forced the decision to come down to NAVI choosing between Nuke and Overpass, with the Ukrainian organization going with the latter. With Complexity on the unfavored T-side, the match began with NAVI winning the opening pistol. While that would normally mean that NAVI would win the next two, it was actually Complexity who successfully forced and took an immediate 2-1. This was shortlived, however, as NAVI began their revenge by winning the subsequent five making it a 6-2 scoreline. With it looking like a stomp, Complexity's men dug deep and with clutches by Michael "Grim" Wince and Johnny "JT" Theodosiou helping their case, the Americans were able to shift momentum and win the half 8-7.

A shocking first-half win for Complexity meant that the Ukranians were on the backfoot as the Americans were now moving to their favored CT-side on a heavily CT-sided map. In their last six months, Complexity has won 57.9% of their defensive rounds, which bodes well for them as they looked to provide a major upset. After successfully winning the pistol, the Americans won the next three of four rounds to gain a sizeable 12-8 lead. In a pivotal 12-9 round that would make or break Complexity's economy, they successfully held off a Natus Vincere attack and went on to close out the map.

This victory is monumental for Complexity as it is their first win against a top tier opponent in the last twelve matches. To complete a victory against Natus Vincere, even with s1mple on the sidelines, it is a major confidence booster for a team that has been searching for answers for months. Additionally, it will be the first victory for the team with hallzerk who is joining the Americans after a period in Dignitas.

Complexity's next match will be against the victor of Liquid and G2 starting at 09:30AM.
