00 Nation upset Astralis in Cologne
00 Nation have bested Astralis 16-6 in their opening game of the IEM Cologne Play-In after strong performances from across the entirety of the Brazilian lineup. This surprising result sees Epitácio "TACO" de Melo and company set to take on Spirit later today in a game which could already qualify 00 Nation for the main event.
00 Nation kicked off their matchup versus Astralis firmly in the driver's seat, running up an early 4-1 lead on the CT-side. Although the Danes did wake up slightly with a few round wins of their own, 00 Nation continued to pile on the pressure, only allowing the Danish squad one additional round as they closed out the half with a comfortable 10-5 lead to their name.
The Brazilian squad continued their dominance once on the attack, too, finding four rounds on the bounce to keep Astralis' backs firmly against the wall. While the Danish roster did find one round to catch a break, this wouldn't last long, with TACO's men wasting no time in finding the final two rounds they needed to steal Mirage 16-6 and send Astralis down to the lower-bracket.
00 Nation are set to face off against Spirit in a BO3 later today at 10:00AM. Should they upset once more, the Brazilians will have a ticket straight to the main event, an impressive feat for such a new lineup.
