Liquid announce new coach
Liquid have announced the signing of Damian "daps" Steele as the squad's new head coach. This move comes shortly after the benching of the previous coach Eric "adreN" Hoag, a move announced alongside the benching of Richard "shox" Papillon.
This is daps' first role back in CS:GO following the Orgless project he spearheaded earlier in 2022. The Orgless squad was never able to break into the upper tiers of NA competition, only ever attaining success in ESEA Cash Cups before disbanding back in April after missing out on qualification for the PGL Antwerp Major RMR.
From 2017 to 2019, daps was in the driver's seat of the NRG squad that went on to find further success under Evil Geniuses, a roster he fostered as an in-game leader and later a coach. Following his time there, he worked with Cloud9 and Gen.G before joining back up with his former NRG teammates as Evil Geniuses' coach in 2021.
Coaching Liquid will mark daps' second going around with the organization. In 2015, he briefly played for Liquid alongside Keith "NAF" Markovic, Nick "nitr0" Cannella, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, and the outgoing coach he's replacing, adreN.
Following daps' addition, Liquid's roster is now:
-
Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski
-
Keith "NAF" Markovic
-
Josh "oSee" Ohm
-
Nick "nitr0" Cannella
-
Damian "daps" Steele (Coach)
-
Eric "adreN" Hoag (Inactive Coach)
-
Richard "shox" Papillon (Inactive)
Liquid now need to quickly decide on their fifth player, as the roster lock for the prestigious IEM Cologne event is tomorrow. Liquid will be back in action for the first time with their new coach on July 7th, when IEM Cologne begins.
