Rogue confirm disbanding of CS:GO roster
Following a report by Jarek "DeKay" Lewis on Dexerto earlier today, Rogue have confirmed that they have shuttered their CS:GO division for the time being.
In a statement on Twitter, Rogue founder Frank Villarreal pointed towards the departure of Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen and Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen as "a familiar predicament for our CS:GO team", referring back to Casper "cadiaN" Møller's move to North shortly after Rogue's run at the FACEIT London Major that forced the team into a tight spot prior to the start of ECS Season 6 and ESL Pro League Season 8.
The impending departure of MSL and niko, combined with "interest in [Rogue's] remaining North American players" led to the organization choosing to dissolve the roster rather than rebuild in haste, as the ESL Pro League roster deadline closed mere hours ago at 6 PM EDT.
Despite Rogue having qualified for ECS Season 7 Finals earlier this month, the team will not attend the tournament with their roster. Dust2.us knows that FACEIT are currently in discussions to find a "fair resolution" for the situation. The statement went on to confirm an earlier tweet by Spencer "Hiko" Martin, citing Rogue's last tournament together as StarSeries i-League Season 7, after which the Rogue roster would dissolve.
Rogue's roster consisted of:
- Daniel "vice" Kim
- Spencer "Hiko" Martin
- Hunter "SicK" Mims
- Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen
- Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen
The statement ended by saying that the organization intends to re-enter CS:GO in the future, although a timeline for their return remains unknown.
