FURIA best BIG to go 2-1 in Antwerp
FURIA have rebounded after their opening defeat to Spirit in the Legends stage of the PGL Antwerp Major, first taking down NA rivals Liquid yesterday and now moving past BIG today in a game that could have been put to bed way sooner than it was.
FURIA started the map off on the right foot, drumming up an early 5-1 lead on the T-side thanks to an impressive individual performance by Rafael "saffee" Costa. A one-round reply BIG did break up the onslaught, but FURIA soon went back to their winning ways, adding seven rounds to the Germans' two to run away with the half, leading 12-3 by the switch.
BIG were an entirely different team once the second half got underway, winning seven of the first eight rounds to claw away at the deficit. However, this rejuvenation of the BIG squad would be all for nothing in the end, with FURIA eventually finding it in themselves to add the remaining three rounds they needed to take Vertigo 16-10 and go 2-1 in Antwerp.
FURIA are now sitting 2-1 in the Legend stage where they now await to see who they'll face in their first Best-of-Three of the event. The Brazilians will almost certainly have high hopes as they look to improve upon their top-eight finish of last year's Major.
