BLAST spoil Sharks' Showdown
Brazilian squad Sharks are unlikely to attend the upcoming BLAST Premier Spring Showdown event following problems with the team's flights. Sharks qualified to the American Showdown after besting Imperial in the finals of FiReLEAGUE Latin Power Spring 2022.
Based on a tweet from Sharks' IGL, Jhonatan "jnt" Silva, it appears that issues with the tickets BLAST acquired for the team have jeopardized the team's travel from Brazil to Mexico.
Based on the proximity to the start of the qualifier, several sources close to the situation have informed Dust2.us that it is extremely unlikely that the team will be able to participate in the event. If Sharks is truly unable to attend this event it would be devastating for the squad, as the team haven't had an opportunity to compete outside South America this year.
The last time the team was playing outside of the region was in late 2021 when Sharks spent a roughly two-month period playing in Europe, centered around their participation in the PGL Stockholm Major and EPL Season 15 Conference.
Sharks' qualification for this event through the FiReLEAGUE Latin Power Spring event was a change in fortunes after a rough period for the team, which saw them falter in both PGL Americas RMR South American open qualifiers, denying the team a chance to play in the Americas RMR. En route to their qualification for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, the team bested Leviatán and Imperial in BO3s.
Sharks was set to play FURIA on Thursday say 04:30PM. As previously mentioned, sources confirm to Dust2.us their spot is set to be filled by ATK due to their second-place finish in ACE Masters. Dust2.us have reached out to BLAST for comment, but they have not responded at the time of publication.
The North American BLAST Premier Spring Showdown is set to start tomorrow at 04:30PM, with GODSENT and Evil Geniuses squaring off in the opening match.
