FURIA secure top seed from Group B at ESL Pro League Season 15
Andrei "arT" Piovezan and co. have locked themselves in for the ESL Pro League Season 15 playoffs which are set to commence on April 5. Although Group B consisted of three top 10 teams in the form of FaZe, Vitality, and Outsiders, it was FURIA and ENCE who came head to head in order to decide the winner of the group. Both teams entered the matchup with flawless records thus far, tied at the top of the group with three wins each.
Although the match was key in deciding the winner of the group, FURIA had much more to lose as a result of ENCE being already locked in for playoffs following their victories over FaZe, Vitality and Outsiders, which secured their playoff berth due to the head-to-head record. While it would have been very unlikely, if results were to go against FURIA, they still could have missed out on playoffs if they lost to Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's side.
The series went down to the wire, ending on Mirage after both teams won their map picks 16-11, with ENCE taking Nuke and FURIA taking Vertigo. ENCE seemingly had the game in the palm of their hand, going in at halftime with a 10-5 lead, before winning the pistol and the follow up to start the second half. FURIA would not be denied however, winning ten rounds in a row without reply from ENCE, winning several retakes in the process.
FURIA fans have a reason to rejoice, finally seeing the potential of this roster after the addition of Rafael "saffee" Costa during the off-season. Following their initial results at IEM Katowice and ESL Challenger, 48 where they lost to Outsiders, who were still playing as Virtus.pro, 2-0, not many pundits would have had them making it out of the group, let alone winning the whole group.
FURIA will have the opportunity to close out the group stage with a flawless record when they face struggling FaZe in their final match tomorrow at 02:30PM.
