FaZe struggling in Group B of ESL Pro League
After a 2-0 loss at the hands of the CIS squad Outsiders, FaZe find themselves in joint last place of Group B at ESL Pro League Season 15 with an 0-2 record so far. This defeat has dealt a significant blow to FaZe, as the team had already gotten off to a rough start in their group on the first day with a narrow 2-1 loss to ENCE.
Coming off the incredible high of winning IEM Katowice only a few weeks ago, it seemed reasonably likely that Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and co. would trounce the opposition in their group. With fellow Group B teams Vitality and FURIA putting up middling results at the Polish LAN, and with the Virtus.pro roster dealing with the scrutiny of the ESL restrictions on Russian-based organizations, it looked like FaZe would be coming out in this group on top.
With FaZe's first two matches now complete, it is evident that the dominance that people were expecting has not played out. FaZe are not out of the running for the Pro League playoffs quite yet, but they are far closer to facing a group-stage exit than a playoffs appearance. If FaZe are to reach playoffs, they will need to turn things around starting today in their match against Sprout. If they can move past the German squad they will have to take on Vitality and FURIA in hopes of reaching the next stage of the event, a tough prospect especially considering the latter team's performance so far, with the Brazilians currently sitting at the top of the group.
A tweet from Twistzz after the team's match against Outsiders alluded that some issues with his physical health may have impacted his performance in the squad's earlier games. A rapid recovery in terms of health and performance may be a necessary condition for FaZe to have a shot at securing a playoffs spot.
FaZe will be looking to revive their ESL Pro League Season 15 campaign today, facing off against Sprout in a do-or-die game at 02:30PM.
