Envy acquire an enviable amount of investment
According to a report by The Esports Observer, Envy has received a large investment of $20 Million in order to fuel their growth, with the focus of this wave of investment being on the "monetization of its fan base across the Overwatch League and eight other titles."
This investment comes as large investors have continued to invest money into the esports ecosystem, with fellow organizations Liquid, OpTic, and compLexity recieving large investments over the course of last year. Previous large scale investors have included massive names from traditional sports including Michael Jordan, Jerry Jones, Shaquille O'Neal, and the Texas Rangers.
Although Envy's investors were not named in this article, the number of traditional investing firms that have taken an interest in esports has increased in recent years as esports break into the mainstream.
On the CS:GO side, the Envy organization is currently preparing for the IEM Katowice Americas Minor, having brought in Finn "karrigan" Andersen on loan from FaZe to help potentially give their roster the push they need against a stacked field of domestic and foreign opponents.
