Swole Patrol head to EPICENTER Wild Card Decider tomorrow
Swole Patrol are currently in Moscow, competing at the EPICENTER Wild Card tournament. After their travel issues over the weekend, the tournament organizers changed the schedule to allow the team to get used to the timezone change more efficiently.
As such, their game against HellRaisers was pushed back by around three hours, meaning the decider match was set to take place tomorrow at 4 AM EDT. When their first match got underway, the two teams were set to play on Inferno, Cache with a potential Train decider.
Inferno started with Swole Patrol taking the pistol round, but a forcebuy from HellRaisers in the next saw them fall to a very dominant display from the international team. The Americans were unable to secure a round win until ten rounds later, and were shut out again until the end of the half, seeing themselves 12-3 down. The second half was no help either, as they lost all four rounds played for a 16-3 HellRaisers win.
Cache was a similar story. This time, HellRaisers controlled the first half all the way through, taking eight rounds without reply. Although Swole Patrol had three strong rounds towards the end of the half, that was all they could gain as HellRasiers, once again, went in 12-3 ahead. The second half saw some seeds of life come to the Americans, taking the third round on a force, but HellRaisers took map point and eventually the win at 16-7.
This meant they had a lower bracket final match against 5POWER lined up, with the Chinese team losing 2-0 to Virtus.pro earlier in the day. The two teams faced up on Nuke, Inferno and left Cache as the final map.
Nuke began with the Chinese team opening up with the first three rounds, before Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir and co. wrestled control of the half, limiting their opponents to just another three rounds for a 9-6 lead. The second half was more dominant for Swole Patrol, seeing Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro reach 118.8 ADR, as they only dropped one round on their way to a 16-7 win.
Inferno followed, and it was a very similar map. 5POWER once again opened up with a strong performance, this time with four rounds won, before Swole Patrol came in with a stranglehold on the half. Another 9-6 lead for Swole Patrol put them in a strong position to take the win. And take the win they did, this time seeing Braxton "swag" Pierce going above and beyond with a 1.88 rating, with the team only dropping one round on their way to another 16-7 win.
This result means Swole Patrol will face off against the losing team between Virtus.pro and HellRaisers tomorrow at 4 AM EDT.
