eUnited shoot down Spacestation for DreamHack Open Atlanta spot
Eight teams looked to secure passage to DreamHack Open Atlanta 2018, which is set to take place between November 16-18th. The closed qualifier began with invited team Luminosity dropping out with coach Rafael "zakk" Fernandes citing their schedule, a clashing ESL Pro League match against Ghost, as the reason why.
The forfeit meant Troy "ara" Pollock and the rest of 4US picked up simple passage to the next round. The remainder of the first round went off without any other problems, with eUnited picking up a 2-0 win over Duffle Bag Men with Michael "dapr" Gulino and co. securing a 16-10 win on Mirage and a 16-4 win on Overpass to head to the next round.
That win saw them line up a semifinal match against FURIA, who went to all three maps to upset their Brazilian opponents in oNe. Inferno was the opener, and it was oNe who took the first blood, picking up a comfortable 16-8 win on the map. Train followed, and although oNe had a strong seven-round start on the map, the two teams battled to overtime, with FURIA forcing a 19-17 win. Overpass concluded the game, with FURIA only dropping three rounds for a 16-3 win.
4US' opponent was to be Spacestation, who secured their semifinal position in a 2-0 win over Final Feature, with Gage "Infinite" Green battling through their opponents after having to gain control on Overpass for a 16-10 win, before closing it out with a 16-3 win on Cache.

The second round games were both simple wins for the two ECS teams. eUnited had the easier journey through, being in complete control on both maps against FURIA, never going behind to the Brazilians. A 16-3 win on Train opened the match up, before a 16-5 win on Mirage sent them to the final.
Spacestation also went through with a 2-0 win, albeit they had to work slightly harder for their pass. Inferno forced them to come back from behind on multiple occasions in the first half before taking a 16-12 win. Dust2 was more comfortable for the recently reshuffled roster, being ahead with David "DAVEY" Stafford leading from the front in both halves for the 16-11 win.

The final then came for both eUnited and Spacestation, with the two teams deciding to play on Cache, Mirage and Inferno. Cache opened up with eUnited in control, taking the first four rounds of the half and keeping themselves ahead throughout the rest of that first half. Although Spacestation kept the scoreline close, it was Brandon "Ace" Winn and co. 8-7 ahead at the break.
The second half opened with Spacestation picking up the pistol, but eUnited forced in the next round and pushed back, only dropping one more round as they secured the eight they required, taking a 16-9 win.
Mirage was next, and it was a bloodbath in favor of eUnited. Once again they secured the first four rounds of the half, but Spacestation couldn't capitalize on the round they picked up afterwards. They were unable to capitalize on the other two they secured in the half, being reset every time as eUnited cruised to a 12-3 lead at the break. The second half was a mirror of the first half, with Kaleb "moose" Jayne securing a cool 1.96 rating as his team went in 16-3 winners.
