Cloud9 overpower NRG in second Group A opener
Broken block
Cloud9 got off to a great start on Mirage thanks to a Glock double kill in the pistol round from Timothy "autimatic" Ta. Cloud9 continued their winning ways up to a scoreline of 6-0, though NRG did have their chances. It eventually took a quadruple kill from star AWPer Cvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov to get NRG on the board in the seventh round.
In the following round, both team's economies were low, a testament to NRG keeping rounds close even during Cloud9's six round streak. However, they were unable to capitalize, and Cloud9 put them in a bad position.
Not to be daunted, NRG set forth from their spawn with a mixed buy and only two rifles — they were somehow able to make it worth, and would force Cloud9 onto a full eco.
The hits would keep coming for NRG, as they fumbled a 5v2 situation and allowed autimatic and Tarik "tarik" Celik to reclaim the round. The half would end with Cloud9 in a commanding 11-4 lead thanks to their Counter-Terrorist side.
Cloud9 would also take the second half pistol, all but assuring that NRG's fate would be sealed. Damian "daps" Steele's crew would show resolve in taking the third round of the half and force Cloud9 onto pistols — but again made a major mistake and allowed Cloud9 to take the round with far inferior weaponry.
From here, it was short work for Cloud9 to take the two remaining rounds necessary to get them to sixteen.
NRG will now go on to play Luminosity in the Group A elimination match, whereas Cloud9 will take on Renegades a bit later in the evening.
