MIBR pull out of ECS Challenger Cup
MIBR have dropped out of the ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup, the organization revealed in an announcement on Twitter late Tuesday evening. As the team is currently in Istanbul, Turkey for BLAST Pro Series, they would have had to play their matches at 4 AM local time with 150+ ping. This marks the first time that Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Fernando "fer" Alvarenga will not participate in a season of ESL Pro League or ECS.
The MIBR core previously competed in ECS Season 5 under SK, but as slots in the league belong to organizations rather than rosters, were forced to requalify if they hoped to compete in the FACEIT-run league for the upcoming season. It is still unknown what roster, if any, SK intends to field in the upcoming league.
With less than an hour to go before the Challenger Cup kicks off, it is unlikely that a replacment for the Brazilan-American team will be found. As such, AZIO will proceed to the second round of the upper bracket due to a default win.
The ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup is set to kick off at 9 PM EDT today, and will run until October 2nd. MIBR await the start of BLAST Pro Series Istanbul on September 28th, where they'll face off against the likes of Astralis and NiP in a round-robin format.
