MVP PK qualify for IEM Chicago over Flash
After being sent to the lower bracket due to a forfeit, MVP PK picked themselves up to defeat Flash 3-1 in the finals to solidify themselves a spot in IEM Chicago.
Coming from the lower bracket meant that MVP PK had to play a map down, giving Flash an immediate 1-0 lead in the Bo5. Unfortunately for Flash, MVP didn't care.
Map two on Inferno was the Hyun-Pyo "XigN" Lee show leading the team with a 1.87 HLTV rating. MVP would go on to win the map 16-6, moving onto Flash's map pick Cache. This time it was Seon-Ho "minixeta" Son's turn to hog the spotlight. 28 frags in 23 rounds was enough to clean up Flash and put MVP in the series lead.
Map three Mirage was the closest affair to the two teams exchanged, with MVP PK walking away with a 16-13 victory to close the series 3-1.
With MVP PK, IEM Chicago's team list now looks as follows:
Astralis | BIG |
FaZe | fnatic |
Liquid | MIBR |
mousesports | Na'Vi |
NRG | Renegades |
MVP PK | Qualifier |
Qualifier | Qualifier |
SA Qualifier | UCC CIS Qualifier |
The North American open qualifier continues today for the four spots that are to be earned for the closed qualifier on the 23rd-25th of August. Due to an internal error, NA will only be receiving a single spot for Chicago in November.
