ex-Splyce retain Pro League spot, Swole Patrol return to MDL
The consolidation final of ESL Pro League Season 7 relegation North America between ex-Splyce and Swole Patrol has completed, with the former Pro team emerging on top 2-1 (16-10 Cache, 17-19 Inferno, 16-10 Train).
The first map Cache started as a close affair, with many rounds going back and forth between the two squads. Swole Patrol from the Counter-Terrorist side edged out ex-Splyce at the end of the half with an 8-7 scoreline. However, a very strong T half by ex-Splyce and Ricardo "Rickeh" Mulholland let David "DAVEY" Stafford's men take Swole Patrol's map pick 16-10.
ex-Splyce's pick Inferno kept with the theme of a close match, as another 8-7 half came out of the two organizationless squads, this time in favor of the ex-Splyce side. Swole Patrol didn't let them off the hook on their T side however, and managed to force overtime. A big game from Samuel "SileNt" Portillo kept the MDL team in the series, and allowed Swole Patrol to win map two 19-17.
Train kicked off with a pretty large lead for ex-Splyce, racking up an 11-4 scoreline at the half. Swole Patrol tried their best to mount a comeback from their CT side, but Stephen "reltuC" Cutler was too much for the muscle men, and ex-Splyce took the map 16-10 and the series 2-1.
ex-Splyce have successfully defended their ESL Pro league spot, and will compete in Season 8 of the prestigious league. Swole Patrol will return to the MDL and play through both Seasons 28 and 29 to have their next shot at advancing to Pro League.
