ESL announce Pro League Finals groups and initial matchups.
ESL have announced the two eight-team groups as well as the initial matchups for the ESL Pro League Finals set to begin on May 15th in Dallas, Texas.
Cloud9 find themselves in Group A and will face off against FaZe in their initial match. This keeps alive the streak of Cloud9 and FaZe playing each in every major event in 2018. NRG are also in Group A and will take on HellRaisers in their first match.
The other three teams featuring North American players, Liquid, Renegades, and SK, appear in Group B, and will play Grayhound, Space Soldiers, and NiP respectively.
As is the format with all 16-team ESL events this year, three teams from each group will advance to the playoffs, one of which advances directly to the semifinals. Those remaining six teams will fight through a single elimination bracket to then determine the champion.
The group stage is set to begin on May 15 and will go through the 17th. The playoffs will start the next day in the Verizon Theatre.
