Na`Vi ease past Quantum Bellator Fire; to face FaZe in semifinals
The second quarterfinal matchup of the Boston Major's playoffs saw Na`Vi facing off against their CIS kin from Quantum Bellator Fire. After surprising everyone by passing through the first two stages of the event, QBFire now looked to prove their prowess in series play on the biggest stage in Counter-Strike. With QBFire's pick of Mirage up first, the team would have to hit the ground running.
A fantastic start greeted the newcomers on Mirage as Aurimas "Kvik" Kvakšys opened the match with an ace, taking the T side pistol with ease. With the pistol round secured, QBFire tried extending their lead against the ensuing anti-eco from Na`Vi; however, Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev immediately stepped up for his own team by finding the first three frags with a scout to grant his team a round in reply.
QBFire's hopes in the half ironically went up in flamies from here, as Egor "flamie" Vasilyev began to dominate the offensive side. Round after round flamie found multi-kills, working his way to 32 frags in the half to set a new record for the most kills in one half. It wasn't until the last round that QBFire finally snuck a second round in, but the match was far out of their hands by this time.
Although the second pistol round went the way of QBFire, flamie found two CZ75 kills on the third round to swing the momentum back into Na`Vi's favor. From here the CIS squad quickly closed out the match, with flamie ending Mirage just one kill short of 40 frags in 20 rounds — setting a second record of most kills in a regulation Major match.
Inferno saw flamie continue to put up numbers, although considerably less so than on Mirage. Na`Vi took the first pistol round of the map, but this time found themselves reset in the ensuing round instead. Three kills from flamie put control back into Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko's hands, and Na`Vi began finding rounds on their T side.
With Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev showing up to fight alongside flamie, Na`Vi began securing rounds — but only three at a time. Each time Zeus & co. took a trio of rounds, QBFire answered back with one of their own; unfortunately, the rookie squad was unable to chain rounds together, which led to an 11-4 half in favor of Na`Vi.
A second pistol round victory seemed to ensure victory for Na`Vi, but yet again QBFire fought back with a force-buy to keep themselves in the match. Using their firepower advantage QBFire took two more rounds before Na`Vi stabilized, and quickly the match was brought to a close.
Cloud9 will now look to take down G2 in the last quarterfinal matchup of the day, with SK facing fnatic tomorrow before the semifinals are decided.
