Cloud9 beach Vega Squadron; advance to Major Playoffs
The second 2-2 match of day four would see an extremely one sided affair on Mirage between Cloud9 and Vega Squadron to determine who's heading to Boston and who's heading home.
Cloud9 started out on the CT side where they found the pistol round win on the back of a triple kill from Jake "Stewie2K" Yip. C9 would continue their good fortune and find the two subsequent anti-eco rounds with relative ease. The first buy round of the match would look promising for Vega Squadron, but they would ultimately flounder only finding two frags in the round.
From that point on, Cloud9 would start to run up the score, achieving double digits before the CIS squad would find their first. In round thirteen Vega would return to their comfort, and blast onto the A bombsite, with Dmitriy "jR" Chervak finding a double entry, to find their first round. Despite the success in the previous round, Vega fell to a stout Cloud9 defense and the half would end 14-1 in the North American's favor.
The second half would see the CIS sharks find their second round of the game, picking up a convincing pistol win, denying Cloud9's fast B take. Vega Squadron converted the following anti-ecos bringing the score to 14-4 before Cloud9 could muster a buy. Despite no AWP in the first buy round, Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham finding two AK-47 frags to solidify match point for Cloud9. Vega Squadron was unable to fight back, losing the opening AWP duel, giving up the A bombsite, and a double kill from Will "RUSH" Wierzba would send Cloud9 to Boston, ending the map 16-4.
With the win, Cloud9 advance to the playoffs of the ELEAGUE Major in Boston. Despite their early success in the New Challengers stage, Vega Squadron could not continue their good run of form and will be sent home .
