ESL FACEIT Group lay off employees at Esports Engine studio in Burbank
According to a report by James Fudge of The Esports Advocate, ESL FACEIT Group has laid off most of its employees at the Esports Engine office in Burbank, California.
EFG responded by saying only a small number of employees were laid off, with most being offered remote work or the opportunity to transfer to a studio in Columbus, Ohio.
The Esports Advocate estimated that around 20-30 employees were working in the Burbank facility, and the information they received stated that most would be cut, which was refuted by EFG. TEA received further information that many in both California and Ohio already are working remotely, which sets up a precedent for employees to transition into remote work for the office.
Those affected by the layoffs have already been communicated to, while others have been invited to a town hall that is scheduled for today.
