timbermen dominate final NA Revival Series of 2024
Last night timbermen topped the final NA Revival Series of 2024, winning the December edition of Complexity and Mythic League's event series by taking down BOSS, Nouns, and NRG to claim the $4,000 top prize. The impressive result is the latest strong showing for the timbermen mixteam featuring Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly, Deni "dea" Ediev, and Shane "shane" Dressler as they previously notched a top-four finish in the November NA Revival Series in their first event together.
timbermen's run in the NA Revival Series December kicked off on Saturday with a truly striking result as the new-look timbermen squad completely dominated BOSS, taking down the top orgless squad 13-1 on Mirage and 13-1 on Ancient, giving Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore no breathing room in a series that was over in a flash.
Moving into the semifinals, the opposition finally began to heat up as Nouns struck the first blow in the three-map series, with Nick "nicx" Lee leading the charge as Nouns secured Anubis 13-5. Moving onto Nuke, timbermen had their chance to return the favor as Derek "dare" Brown and shane combined for 33 kills to help propel timbermen to a 13-3 and force the series onto Mirage.
With the series tied up, it seemed as if Nouns would be on course for another dominant map as they started the map off 10-0 on their CT-side before timbermen won the last two rounds on their T-side. In a shocking turn of events, these two rounds from timbermen were enough to reverse the rout as timbermen would go on to win the next eleven rounds in a row in a perfect CT-side that allowed them to secure Mirage 13-10 and send Nouns packing.
With their path to the finals secured, timbermen squared off against NRG in the first "normal" series of their run, beginning on Ancient with a close 13-11 win punctuated by a strong performance from Wyatt "snav" Phillippi. Moving onto NRG's map pick, Dust2, they eked out a narrow 7-5 lead on their T-side before playing a much more confident CT-side to win the map 13-6.
On the third map, Mirage, NRG won the pistol round and the following round on their T-side before a run of rounds in the middle of their CT-side allowed timbermen to claim a narrow 7-5 lead heading into the final half of the series. After switching sides, timbermen struck the first blow by winning the pistol round and the following round, with this four round lead proving the pivotal factor in timbermen going on to secure the map 13-9.
