steel and Skadoodle qualify to ESL Challenger League
Last night saw the penultimate day of ESL Challenger League Season 48 Relegation played out, seeing Josh "steel" Nissan's Undone lineup claim a spot in ESL Challenger League Season 49 while LAG were demoted down to ESEA Advanced Season 52 in a "last dance" of sorts for their former lineup. The achievement is significant for the Undone lineup as steel and Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham only joined the Undone lineup in early November, with the team being the latest ESEA Advanced "superteam" as the lineup also consists of Ian "motm" Hardy, Connor "chop" Sullivan, and Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk.
Undone's road to ECL via Relegation began on December 10th with the team claiming a quick and easy 2-0 win over InControl, who were fielding their coach and have since changed multiple pieces. With this first win in hand, Undone then smashed Take Flyte 13-5 on Ancient before securing a close 16-14 overtime win on Inferno to top Stage One of Relegation.
Moving into Stage Two, Undone's first opponent was Alter Iron, who previously eliminated Undone in ESEA Advanced Season 51 playoffs. This time around, Undone ultimately came out ahead in a 2-1 series that saw both squads take turns securing maps in an extremely one-sided (13-5, 13-4, 13-5) fashion.
Undone's qualification match was another rematch with the team taking on Take Flyte for a spot in ECL. The opening map, Dust2, was secured by Undone 14-16 in overtime before Take Flyte stayed alive with a 13-11 win on Nuke. With the series tied up, Undone stepped into gear as cxzi led the server to power Undone to a 13-6 win on Inferno to secure the series.
With Undone claiming one of two spots in ECL next season via Relegation, Take Flyte will face Alter Iron tonight at 09:00PM to determine the second spot.
