PW Shanghai Major Day Seven Recap: Liquid advances to playoffs

Job's not done.

Team Liquid has advanced to the playoffs of the Perfect World Shanghai Major, joining The MongolZ, Vitality, G2 Esports, and Team Spirit in the single-elimination bracket. For the first time since the release of Counter-Strike 2, and for only the second time in the past six Majors, a North American team is in the playoffs.

Only one more day remains in the Elimination Stage, with six teams fighting for the three final playoff spots.

World Liquid looks comfortable in victory against MIBR

Liquid continues to look better and better as this Major progresses, and although the series against MIBR needed all three maps, Liquid's looked extremely capable in their wins on Mirage and Anubis. Mirage was clearly a weak point in the MIBR map pool, as the Brazilians could not get going at all against Liquid, who took the map 13-2.

Nuke was a much closer affair, but MIBR's CT-side was just a tiny bit better. On the decisive Anubis, Liquid took over after being down 4-1 early on, closing the half strong and stringing together all six T-side rounds to close out the map and the series. At his first ever Major, Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak finished the series on top of the scoreboard.
