Cloud9 surpass EnVyUs on Cache
The Day 1 closer of the New Challengers stage of the ELEAGUE Major Boston saw star-studded Cloud9 take on an inconsistent EnVy on Cache.
Cloud9 started off hot, picking up the pistol round in a stunning retake onto the A bombsite and converted the subsequent anti-eco round. Despite falling to the third round AK buy, Cloud 9 would pick up the following and continue on to a comfortable 6-2 lead on their CT side.
With EnVydown 9-4, Alexandre "xms" Forté decided to take the game into his own hands picking up a triple kill onto the A bombsite. Most days that would have been another round for Envy, but Tyle "Skadoodle" Latham clearly stated that this was not most days, winning a spectacular 1v3 AWP clutch to put the North American side onto double digits.
Heading into their CT side down 11-4, EnVy would pick up a much needed pistol round and would use their momentum to claw their way back to 12-10, thanks in part in part to clean anti-eco rounds, only needing two rounds to equalize.
Cloud9, having struggled to find rounds on their T side, would begin to take mid control and all their woes faded. They would find themselves three rounds in a row to put themselves onto match point. Although EnVy found themselves on pistols with the match on the line, they were able to scrape by with the round, almost falling to a Skadoodle 1v4 clutch attempt. Cloud9 would go on to win the following round and close out the map 16-11.
With the win, Cloud9 will advance to 1-0 and will be heavy favorites in the second round of the Swiss system, as they face the primarily German side of Sprout. EnVy however, recieved the difficult draw of Renegades, and will need to start strong tommorrow or they could find themselves 0-2.
