Teams continue to wait for prize money from GET Rio

Another chapter to this never-ending story.

The Global Esports Tour Rio 2024 and the Brazilian Games and Esports Confederation (CBGE) continue to be in hot water after it was revealed that the prize money from the event is yet to be distributed between the attending teams.

Adding to that, Dust2 Brasil reported that expense reimbursements are yet to be made as well and the teams have already spoken with the tournament organizer about the lack of payment.

In the contracts between participating teams and the CBGE, it is noted that the organizer must pay the prize money within 60 days after the end of the event, which happened on April 21st. As it happens, that has not occurred, with the organizer risking paying 5% more as a fine adding 1% to that every month that passes after the event's end.

The newly-appointed CBGE President Leonardo Fontes promises that the teams will receive their respective prize money and states that the delay has been caused by the bureaucracy amidst the change in the CBGE office after Paulo Ribas resigned from the role to occupy a new one with the Global Esports Federation. At the time of publication, the new executive is yet to have access to CBGE's bank accounts.
