MartinezSa: "I can't even explain it, I just feel amazing"

9z have done the unthinkable and defeated the behemoths of Vitality, and not only that, but in just two maps. Next, 9z will play in the semifinals of IEM Dallas, just two games away from taking the whole damn thing.

After the game, Dust2.us' Daniel "Scoobster" Khurgin spoke with 9z's star AWPer Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez about the victory, his performance, and 9z's future.

Great win, what went right to make that a reality?

I don't know. I feel amazing. The team feels amazing, so I don't know what to say because I can't even explain it, I just feel amazing.

You move onto the arena now, how does it feel to finally be able to do it with 9z?

It's the dream of the players, to play in a Major and in front of a crowd. I'm so happy for us.

And what was the process like of moving to South America and joining 9z?

For me, it was hard to move, but I did it because 9z will move to Europe in the next month. For that reason, I changed teams. We will play in Europe for the next month and probably the next year as well.

You'll spend a lot of time in Europe

Yeah, all the time.

Beating Vitality, you have ten map wins in a row on Dust2. Is that your best map?

Yeah, I think so! Our best map is between Nuke and Dust2, as you can tell on HLTV. We are really confident in that map. I think it's our best map right now.

What do you think makes you so good on Dust2?

I don't know. We play default, we move the round a lot. It depends on the info we have on the map a lot. I don't know the key to winning the map, but we just play default and make good decisions. That's it, I think.

When you left Movistar Riders, they found success pretty quickly. Did that make you feel bad in any way?

No, no no. It's good for them. In Spain, there are no players, so it's good that they found one player so far. I'm happy for them.

Is that lack of player pool part of the reason you moved to 9z?

I moved because Alex joined NIP. As I said, there's few Spanish players, so when 9z contacted me, it was a hard decision, I have to say, but I think it was a smart decision.

It seems to have worked out. Are you happy with the move?

Yeah, of course! I'm so happy right now. We didn't make the Major, but we don't care. We're happy right now. I'm so happy for us.

Personally, you've been really good this event, a top ten player statistically, why do you think that is? Do you think you have always been this good, or has it just came out now?

I don't know haha. I just play my game. I try to be better day by day. I don't know.
