KayJay enters free agency as Guild Eagles fold
British organization Guild have released their Kosovar CS2 lineup Guild Eagles, marking the end of their collaboration with the former Bad News Eagles squad after six months. With this, Guild have also released their extensive coaching staff, which includes Canadian Assistant Coach Kieran "KayJay" Playfair, marking the end of his two year collaboration with the team.
KayJay's time with the Eagles saw him attend two Majors with the squad, helping the squad to have two standout performances in Antwerp and Rio. However, after the squad were signed by Guild results slowly began to taper off, with the team only once briefly returning to the top 30 in February 2024. After that point results were hard to come by while the squad slowly sank all the way down to 62nd in the world ranking.
While Guild's release of their team marks the end of KayJay's highest-profile role to date, the former TSM and Liquid analyst is now back on the market with multiple Majors under his belt. While it remains to be seen which region the 28-year-old analyst and coach will choose to call home next, he will hopefully have the improved résumé to find a new home soon.
