FURIA demolished in G2's opener
FURIA made all Brazilian and American fans rejoice last night with a phenomenal 2-0 performance over SAW to complete the reverse sweep and qualify for the Elimination Stage of the Copenhagen Major. With no break day between the Opening and Elimination Stage, FURIA were thrown straight into the fire of the competition, facing a battle-ready G2 off weeks of preparation.
It was always going to be a tough match for FURIA, but they were not prepared for the battering they would invite in this match.
Both teams banned their way into Inferno, the chosen battlefield for this opening best-of-one. G2 started on the defense, winning the pistol and the followup with relative ease. An early gun round went the Europeans' way, lending to a strong lead. That gap widened and widened, with G2 eclipsing the fabled BRA7-1L scoreline to rack up an 8-0 lead. Even more concerning than the score was the relative easy that FURIA gave way to such a canyon.
Finally FURIA clawed their way back a round, and from then on, actually put up a fight. The panthers won three of the last four on their T-side, however a T-pistol win from G2 all but secured victory. With next to no margin for error, FURIA lost the first gun round at 3-12, ending the game 13-3.
