Kinship and Cohesive Concepts to face-off in NACCS FPL Cup 1 grand final
The first FPL Cup hosted by the North American Competitive Collegiate Series (NACCS) is down to the final two teams, Cohesive Concepts and Kinship.
The event did not reach this point without incident, however, as Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly sounded off on Twitter accusing GGPR of having privileged tactical information and cheating through the stream of a community caster who inadvertently connected to admin live spectator mode instead of GOTV.
The caster in question, Hamtaro, is a content creator for GGPR and was subjected to abuse for a mistake that was determined to be beyond his control. NACCS responded to the accusations, determining that the match would be replayed to erase any doubt of wrongdoing, despite there being no indication that GGPR had gained an unfair advantage. GGPR prevailed in that rematch, 16-7 on Dust2.
NACCS also sanctioned Rebirth with a 10% winnings reduction for their unprofessional behavior in the server and on Twitter. They affirmed that the mistake was theirs, and that Hamtaro had done nothing wrong, as they had sent him the wrong link for the match being played.
The only collegiate teams that managed to advance to the round of 16 were Arizona and Virginia Commonwealth University, who were dispatched by Rebirth and Cohesive Concepts, respectively. The other six quarterfinalists were RBG, Iris Money Crew, ex-Warriors International, GGPR, ImPerium, and Kinship.
After the rematch, Cohesive Concepts tore through GGPR, and ImPerium prior to that. The ESEA Main leaders are currently undefeated and have matched up well with the higher tier competition that they've seen in recent cup matches these past few months.
Kinship dispatched RBG, ex-Warriors International, ALev, and MTU to secure their date with Cohesive Concepts. The ESEA MDL Season 35 bottom dwellers could really use the confidence boost that would come with a victory in tonight's match.
