Limpone steps down from New England Whalers

The Swedish coach will be looking for offers on his side of the pond moving forward.

Linus "Limpone" Wecksell has stepped down from New England Whalers, marking the end of the Swedish coach's fifth-month tenure with the squad.

Limpone began coaching New England Whalers in mid-February, before being officially announced on April 18th. During his tenure with the squad, New England Whalers reached its highest level ever, notably clinching the first seed in ESEA MDL Season 34 regular season following an impressive 15-2 record.

However,  after a strong finish to the regular season, the team unperformed in playoffs, falling to Mythic in the semifinals before being eliminated in a close series against Levitate. Outside of MDL, New England Whalers found moderate success, finishing third-to-fourth place in WINNERS League Invite Season 4.

With Limpone parting ways with the team, New England Whalers are now:

  • Canada Jonathan "djay" Dallal
  • United States Brandon "BOOBIE" Roberts
  • United States Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue
  • United States Ramal "Rampage" Silva
  • United States Ben "ben1337" Smith

With the player break beginning to wind down, New England Whalers will likely be on the lookout for a new coach ahead of the start of ESEA MDL Season 35 on August 31st.
