Update: Oceanus likely set to forfeit ESEA MDL Season 34 playoffs
Tyler "tweiss" Weiss announced in a TwitLonger that Oceanus will likely be forfeiting ESEA MDL Season 34 playoffs as Adam "mada" Pampuch is set to travel to Europe due to a family emergency.
tweiss stated that mada told the team on June 24th that he would likely be leaving to Europe to see a sick family member and therefore will be unable to fulfill his commitments to the team during that time. Following this, Oceanus reached out to ESEA admins requesting an emergency roster addition as rosters have been locked since June 14th. Unfortunately, this request was denied, leaving Oceanus unable to field a roster for playoffs.
While tweiss admits that the team bears some of the blame for not having a backup player, he regrets the exceptional circumstances that will cause them to miss the postseason. However, he also stated that the team fully supports mada's decision and hopes that the community understands that family is more important than MDL playoffs.
In the event that Oceanus are unable to play playoffs, Dust2.us has confirmed with ESEA that the 9th placed team from the regular season will be invited to playoffs and the bracket will be reseeded.
Update: Following the publication of this article, tweiss took to Twitter to reveal that Oceanus still intends on participating in playoffs, and will play 4vs5 in the hopes that mada is able to return in time.
