stamina is looking for longevity with his new project

stamina: "After Nouns, I wanted to build a team where I trust everybody"

When it comes to MIGHT, stamina has some unorthodox ideas about the team's goals and timeline.

MIGHT came into Fragicago 2023 as one of the main teams expected to make a deep run in the event. The star-studded core led by Bobby "stamina" Eitrem, however, shocked many, by struggling to best Straight Aimers before being felled by Badass in the quarterfinals. Despite this, when Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore had a chance to talk to the IGL the next day, he was in good spirits as the duo discussed MIGHT's run, the development of the team, and stamina's philosophy towards teambuilding in NA, among other topics.

Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.

To start, what went wrong in the Badass match that ultimately contributed to your elimination from Fragicago?

So we started out this series on Anubis, which is our comfort pick and we took care of business on Anubis. Going into Mirage we knew it was a strong map for them, and danss had a pretty big read that they would play very heavily for mid. So on our CT-side we decided we were going to play off of mid and play for the sites the late rounds knowing they weren't going to have the greatest endings.

danss was right on that, and it did work really well for us. We had an 8-4 half which we then went into the second half by winning the T pistol which was rare for us. On day one of this event we lost 10/10 pistol rounds. So being able to win that pistol could put us in a good situation and we had a 10-4 lead, but I failed to call good adjustments against how they were playing. They were still also just playing for mid on their CT-side similar to their T-side and I was calling a lot of stuff around and we were getting picked off in the defaults and crumbled. It was a pretty poor calling performance from me.

Going into map three, we are pretty practiced on Ancient but we haven't had that many reps with danss. So we're inconsistent, we can do things well if the opportunities present themselves but I think we ran out of gas and didn't play our A-game.

We also saw earlier in the event, it seemed like it took everything out of MIGHT to beat Straight Aimers, do you think you struggled this event more than you were expecting?

So we are happy with our performance. I think it was upsetting we couldn't make it to the finals as that was our goal. But yeah, our struggles with Straight Aimers, to be honest, was a unicorn series in my experience. We lost ten rounds that were 5v3, 2v4, etc. and so these up-number situations we lost were crazy, I've never lost so many in my life. Well played by them, they were hitting shots, and were really confident, they were just happy to be here and didn't think they had a chance versus us, but they were giving it their all.

We were low on communication, low on energy, and it was well played from them but danss said it best, if we were a bad team we wouldn't have been able to come back from a 10-4 and a 10-5 deficit, so we showed a lot of character.

How did MIGHT form following the end of your time on Nouns?

So on all of my teams I've played on in the past couple of years, since basically my peak Strife roster, I have never really found five where I felt truly comfortable as a caller, as a player, you know I spent a year AWPing. Following the exit from Nouns I just wanted to build a team where I could really trust everybody, and know that we have the right roles aligned.

In most of these other teams we were something really important and I felt like I wanted to build a team where I knew everything was set up how it needed to be for long-term success. It takes six to twelve months to really get to your top level that you could be at as a team with the same five. I just wanted to build towards that and handpicked everyone one-by-one and it has worked out so far.

Could end up being an incredibly strong team, I'm hopeful for the future of this roster. Despite all the shit I give Bobby, I know he's capable of doing great things in the scene.
